Cité Mixta : Un faux policier arrêté pour tentative d'extorsion de fonds
The district police station of Parcelles Assainies under the command of Commissioner El Hadji Aly Sow arrested an individual in Cité Mixta on May 9, 2026 for impersonating a police officer and attempting to extort money.
At around 1 p.m., following a report, members of the Research Brigade went to the scene accompanied by the complainant and proceeded to arrest the suspect, an individual claiming to be a dockworker, residing in Fass Mbao.
According to the victim's statement, the suspect went to her home impersonating a police officer from the Unit 15 police station in the Parcelles Assainies district. Under this guise, he demanded to see her identity documents and her health record.
Although the complainant was in compliance, the individual demanded the sum of 200,000 FCFA, threatening to arrest her if she refused to pay.
The suspect was caught when the victim asked him to produce his professional ID, which he was unable to do. Alerted by a friend of the complainant, the police immediately intervened and arrested him at the scene.
During his interrogation, the accused admitted to impersonating a police officer. However, he attempted to deny the attempted extortion, while admitting to having discussed financial matters with the victim.
At the end of his custody, the individual was brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office for impersonating a public official and attempted extortion.
