The Kaolack research unit has dismantled a drug trafficking operation in the village of Louba, in the commune of Diamagadio, in the Kaffrine region. Indian hemp and a rifle were seized, according to Seneweb sources.

On January 30, 2026, acting on intelligence indicating drug trafficking in the village of Louba, the head of the Kaolack research section dispatched her team to the scene.

This operation led investigators to Mr. Cissé's home, where 19 packets and one kilogram of loose cannabis were discovered. The detectives also seized a 12-gauge shotgun, a category 3 weapon, which was in possession of an unauthorized person.

A notorious drug trafficker arrested

Mr. Cissé, a resident of the village of Louba where he lives with his family, was known to the locals as both a drug trafficker and a known user. His arrest was met with relief by the residents who had been living in constant insecurity.

Placed in police custody on January 30, 2026, the suspect readily admitted to the acts during his interrogation. He stated that he obtained his drug supplies in Casamance.

Regarding the hunting rifle found in his room, he stated that it belonged to his late father and that he did not know its origin.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the evidence gathered established serious and consistent indications against Mr. Cissé. He is accused of offering and selling Indian hemp (19 packets and 1 kg loose) as well as possessing a category 3 weapon without administrative authorization.

These acts are punishable under Law 97-18 of December 11, 1997, concerning the Drug Code, and Law 66-03 of January 18, 1966, relating to the general regime of weapons and ammunition.

He was brought before the Kaffrine High Court on Monday, February 2, 2026.
