Échanges de tirs avec des policiers à Pikine : Un bandit arrêté après l'attaque d'une société
The Pikine district police station was alerted around 5:00 AM to the presence of an armed group at the premises of EMP (El Hadji Pené), a company specializing in scrap metal collection. Police officers immediately went to the scene to intervene, according to Seneweb sources.
Once on the scene, the police were informed by one of the guards, who had managed to escape, that the perpetrators were inside the premises and armed with machetes. Having spotted the police presence, the bandits opened fire with a firearm before scaling the company's perimeter wall overlooking the toll plaza and fleeing towards the fields.
In response, the police fired several warning shots, forcing one of the assailants to stop and surrender. He was Issa Barry, born in 1989, who identified himself as a laborer and lived in Tivaouane Peul.
The machete he was carrying, as well as his mobile phone, were seized for the purposes of the investigation. According to company officials, three mobile phones and a gold chain worth one million (1,000,000) CFA francs were allegedly taken by the rest of the group.
The public prosecutor was informed and an investigation was opened. Following the investigation, the suspect was brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court and remanded in custody.
