GRAND-MÉDINE : Un charretier arrêté avec du chanvre indien par la police
Police officers from the district police station of Parcelles-Assainies proceeded yesterday Sunday, January 25, to arrest A. Mbaye, a 26-year-old cart driver residing in Grand-Médine, for possession and trafficking of Indian hemp.
It was during a patrol on the strip of land located between the Grand-Médine district and the outdoor parking lot of the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium that the police officers spotted two individuals behaving suspiciously. The officers then decided to approach them.
But as soon as they spotted them, one of the two individuals immediately fled, while A. Mbaye was apprehended at the scene. A search of the location where he was arrested revealed a bag containing 21 packets of marijuana. The suspect was then taken into custody in a police vehicle and transported to the police station. He was also found in possession of 4,000 CFA francs and a Jakarta motorcycle.
When questioned, A. Mbaye admitted the facts without ambiguity, but stated that he did not know the name and address of his companion who was on the run, to whom he allegedly offered Indian hemp.
After being informed of his rights, he was taken into custody for possession and trafficking of marijuana. The drugs, the sum of money, and the motorcycle seized were impounded at the police station for the purposes of the investigation. The public prosecutor was informed of the case.
