Pikine : le récit d'une perquisition mouvementée dans un repaire rempli de motos volées et de drogue
On the night of January 14-15, while Senegalese fans were celebrating the Lions' qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations final (Morocco, December 21-January 18) at the expense of Egypt's Pharaohs, three individuals armed with a knife robbed a woman near the "Syndicat" market in Pikine. Alerted by passersby, a police patrol quickly gave chase. Two of the assailants fled into the crowd, while I. Ndiaye was arrested at the scene, according to L'Observateur.
The newspaper of the Future Media Group (GFM) reports that the subsequent intervention at the suspect's home in Pikine-Afia was particularly tumultuous. The defendant's family fiercely resisted the search, forcing officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade to restrain the occupants in order to inspect the premises.
It was in I. Ndiaye's room that an accomplice, SS Diouf, was caught packaging narcotics: 1.2 kg of cannabis, loose and in 60 packets, was seized. Investigators also discovered a hiding place containing three stolen motorcycles.
While the family members were released after questioning, I. Ndiaye and SS Diouf were taken into custody. They will be brought before the prosecutor this Friday, January 16, respectively on charges of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, and drug trafficking. The two other accomplices, including the one carrying the weapon, are actively being sought, according to the Gfm report.
