In trying to recover his money, AA Bèye became embroiled in a sordid sex scandal that has rocked the Darou Tanzil neighborhood of Touba. According to L'Observateur, which reported the story in its Thursday edition, the 27-year-old mason informed SM Diène that his 17-year-old son, C. Diène, had stolen 45,000 CFA francs from him. The accused's father then advised him to file a complaint while waiting to find his son.
When Diène catches the teenager, he takes him to the police. But during his interrogation, a dramatic turn of events occurs: the theft case morphs into suspicions of pedophilia and unnatural acts; the child claims to investigators that Bèye, who lives near his daara, was sexually assaulting him.
SM Diène states that one day, the bricklayer promised him 5,000 CFA francs for sexual relations. After the act, he swears, he only received 1,000 CFA francs. To get revenge, he confesses, he took advantage of a moment of inattention from his partner to steal 45,000 CFA francs from him.
When questioned about this incriminating testimony, the bricklayer admitted to having "played" with the boy's genitals, but denied having had sexual relations with him.
The findings of a doctor at Matlaboul Fawzaïni Hospital will weaken his defense. Indeed, according to L'Observateur, these findings reveal "bruises on the anal margin consistent with possible anal penetration."
The teenager drove the point home during a second hearing. According to the report in the Groupe Futurs Médias newspaper, he claimed that his brother, I. Diène, and one of his classmates were also victims of the bricklayer.
Under further questioning, the newspaper reports, AA Bèye admitted to touching C. Diène's brother, but was quick to point out that he stopped his actions when he realized that the child was not consenting.
L'Observateur reports that the bricklayer was taken into custody at the special police station in Touba on Wednesday for acts against nature and pedophilia, following a complaint from the father of his alleged victims.
