The Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, toured the Senegal River Valley to assess the progress of the PRDC-VFS project. Alongside the project coordinator, Mamadou Diedhiou, he praised the quality of the community infrastructure and the involvement of local populations, as a second phase of nearly 600 sub-projects is being prepared.

 

The coordinator of the PRDC-VFS, Mamadou Diedhiou, accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, toured the intervention area of the Resilience and Community Development Project of the Senegal River Valley (PRDC-VFS).

Accompanied by the coordinator of the Emergency Program for the Modernization of Border Areas and Territories (PUMA), the minister was able to see firsthand the progress of the various community infrastructures built in several localities in the valley.

The authorities visited several projects in sectors deemed priorities for the population, including health, livestock, water, electrification and education.

At the end of this tour, the project managers declared themselves satisfied with both the quality of the infrastructure and the involvement of local communities in its implementation.

According to Mamadou Diedhiou, the purpose of this visit was to evaluate all the components and sub-components of the project, particularly those related to community infrastructure and support for value chains.

"What we have seen on the ground allows us to say that we are very satisfied with the progress of the work, but also with the quality of the achievements," he stressed.

The PRDC-VFS coordinator also commended the beneficiary populations for their ownership of the projects. He highlighted the inclusion, participation, and involvement of local stakeholders in the targeting and implementation process of the sub-projects.

Testimonies gathered from residents and local authorities have, according to him, confirmed the positive impact of the projects on the living conditions of the communities.

The project, which is in its first generation of sub-projects, already has 276 completed projects. A second phase is in preparation with nearly 600 new sub-projects currently being tendered in the various municipalities involved.

For those in charge of the program, this new step should strengthen the impact of the PRDC-VFS on the daily lives of the people of the Senegal River Valley.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Mamadou Diedhiou thanked all the actors involved in the project, including the administrative authorities, the regional and departmental monitoring committees, the regional development agencies (ARD), the sectoral technical services as well as the PUMA focal points.

The ministerial tour, which began in the department of Dagana, ended in the commune of Dodel, on a note of general satisfaction.
