«Il ne doit pas faire l'amour...» : l'ancien attaquant de Chelsea Diego Costa tacle son ancien entraîneur Antonio Conte

Diego Costa left the club in 2017 at the behest of Antonio Conte. A decision the former Chelsea striker still resents. He launched a scathing attack on his former coach in a podcast.

Diego Costa and Antonio Conte will clearly not be going on holiday together. The former Chelsea striker (2014-2017) has very bad memories of his season under Antonio Conte. In fact, it was Conte himself who pushed the striker out the door at the end of the 2016-2017 season.

He still harbors bitterness about it, and hasn't hidden it. He still remembers the text message he received in which Antonio Conte told him he no longer counted on him for the future: "He told me he thanked me for everything but wasn't going to use me. There was something behind that, because it's not possible for a coach not to count on the player who was his top scorer the previous season," Diego Costa recalled during an episode of "The Obi One Podcast."

After this opening remark, the former Blues striker became much more scathing towards his former coach: "He's always angry, never stops sulking... he probably doesn't make love at home, because he's a very bitter guy," he blurted out, adding that "he doesn't trust others, thinks he knows everything." He explained that he hadn't "enjoyed" "training with him."

If the former Atlético Madrid striker harbors such a deep resentment, it might also be because his form steadily declined after leaving Chelsea. Did Antonio Conte sense this? Or did his departure come as a devastating blow? In any case, after scoring 59 goals in 120 matches with the Blues, he spent two seasons at Atlético without truly shining (19 goals in 81 appearances).

After a short stint in Brazil with Atletico Mineiro, he had no more success at Wolverhampton during the 2022-2023 season (1 goal in 25 games), before returning to Brazil, first to Botafogo and then Grêmio.
