Israël interdit les véhicules chinois près de sites sensibles pour des raisons de sécurité
The Israeli army has decided to ban the use of Chinese-made Chery Tiggo 8 vehicles near its sensitive installations for security reasons. For the past three years, approximately 600 of these cars had been used as official vehicles for officers, after their multimedia systems had been "sterilized" to limit data transmission outside the facility.
However, the military acknowledged that this measure did not completely guarantee the absence of data collection. Modern cars, often connected, are equipped with cameras, sensors, and systems linked to cellular networks, enabling them to provide drivers with real-time data. While Chinese vehicles comply with European regulations and are supposed to send information to servers located in Europe, verifying strict adherence to this standard remains difficult. Concerns focus particularly on the possibility of targeted cyberattacks and the use of microphones and cameras to spy on sensitive sites.
This Israeli decision follows a similar trend to that of the United Kingdom, which banned Chinese vehicles from its military bases. Conversely, China has taken similar measures by banning American Tesla vehicles from its strategic installations.
