"I will resign from my position on January 5, 2026," the Georgia representative said in a statement on the social network X, adding that "standing up for American women who were raped at the age of 14, trafficked, and exploited by wealthy and powerful men should not expose me to being branded a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, for whom I fought."
The American congresswoman has repeatedly criticized Donald Trump's economic policies publicly, accusing him of not focusing enough on purchasing power. But she has particularly condemned his handling of the highly sensitive Jeffrey Epstein case. The American president is "attacking me aggressively to make an example of me and scare other Republicans before next week's vote," Marjorie Taylor Greene responded on X, just days before a House vote aimed at forcing the Trump administration to release files related to the sex offender with his spectacular address book. She notably found it "astonishing how hard he's fighting" to prevent their release.
