A new murder occurred in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) on Thursday, November 13, in which a young man was shot dead at a busy roundabout in the 4th arrondissement. The suspects are currently being sought.

A 15th drug homicide in Marseille? A 25-year-old man was shot dead in the street on Thursday, November 13, near Marseille's largest concert venue (Bouches-du-Rhône), a police source told CNEWS. Initial findings suggest a drug-related settling of scores.

The events took place around 2:30 p.m. at the Claudie-Darcy roundabout, located near the Dôme hall and the Bouches-du-Rhône departmental council building.

Struck by several bullets, including in the chest, the victim was in cardiac arrest when emergency services arrived. Despite resuscitation attempts lasting nearly an hour, the man died.

Forensic police deployed to the scene

According to multiple sources, the two suspects fled on a two-wheeler. Forensic investigators were deployed to the scene, and the two assailants are currently being sought.

Although the link with drug trafficking has not yet been established, the city of Marseille is regularly the scene of narcicides linked to drug trafficking and gang wars for control of drug dealing spots.

On October 9th, a 37-year-old man was killed with an assault rifle on Rue de Crimée, near a gym in the 3rd arrondissement. Arrested two hours later, the suspects, aged 18, 23, and 30, were formally charged Monday evening with "murder committed by an organized group, complicity in murder committed by an organized group, and receiving stolen goods committed by an organized group," among other charges.
