Miss Univers 2025 : les copropriétaires du concours accusés de trafic d'armes et de fraude
The co-owners of the beauty pageant are respectively suspected of fraud and drug and arms trafficking.
Further controversy has arisen following several accusations of election rigging, which the organization has refuted.
New controversy for Miss Universe. The co-owners of the beauty pageant are accused of fraud and drug and arms trafficking, just days after the victory of Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, who had been publicly criticized by a host of the competition held in Thailand.
Investigations opened in Thailand and Mexico
Thai businesswoman Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip is the subject of an arrest warrant issued Tuesday by a court in her country for alleged fraud worth $930,000. She is accused of fraud and withholding information from a cosmetic surgeon when she persuaded him to invest in her company, JKN Global.
The other co-owner of the competition, Mexican businessman Raul Rocha Cantu, is under investigation for arms, drug, and fuel trafficking, the Mexican federal prosecutor's office announced Wednesday. While the authorities have not yet identified the 13 suspects, local media report that Raul Rocha Cantu is among those wanted by police.
Alleged links to the father of the new Miss Universe
Mexican media are even reporting alleged links between the businessman and the father of Miss Universe 2025, which Bernardo Bosch, a senior executive at the state-owned oil company Pemex, has denied. The new beauty queen, for her part, stated that she had received "insults, attacks, and even death threats" regarding these suspicions.
