Sommet sur Gaza : « Une belle jeune femme »… Sans scrupule, Trump réduit Meloni à son physique
At the Gaza summit, Donald Trump made sexist remarks against the Italian head of government, the only woman among the leaders present at his side.
is a particularly unusual remark in international diplomacy that once again demonstrates how disregarded Donald Trump is for decorum. On Monday, during the Gaza summit in Egypt, the US president preferred to focus on Giorgia Meloni's appearance rather than take a real interest in her policies.
"She's a beautiful young woman," the White House resident said of the Italian head of government. In the family photo at the event, which brought together some thirty dignitaries from around the world, the Italian leader was the only woman.
A quick note on Meloni's politics
"I'm not allowed to say it, because normally it's the end of your career if you say it, but she's a beautiful young woman," said the American president, who co-chaired this international conference, during a speech. "I'll take the risk," he said, looking for Giorgia Meloni: "Where is she? Doesn't it bother you if I say you're beautiful? Because it's true."
"She is very respected in Italy. She is a very successful political leader," the American president quickly judged. Standing just behind him, the head of the Italian government simply smiled.
Donald Trump is known for making sexist remarks, sometimes extremely crude, without it having derailed his political career. In 2016, he was first elected a month after the publication of an old video in which he boasted about using his celebrity to "grab (women) by the pussy."
