Tried by the Toulouse Criminal Court (Haute-Garonne) earlier this week for a sexual assault committed at the home of a Toulouse couple on September 21, a 48-year-old man suffering from chronic psychotic disorders was finally convicted of "home invasion."

An erection had infiltrated the marital bed after the husband left. A 48-year-old man, accused of sexual assault after entering a couple's home on September 21, was sentenced earlier this week for "violation of domicile" by the Toulouse Criminal Court (Haute-Garonne).

The accused waited until the husband went out to walk the dog before entering the marital home of a Toulouse couple through an unlocked door on September 21. The latter then slipped into the marital bed without saying a word, before pulling down his pants to reveal his erect penis.

The surprised woman's horrified screams allowed her husband to rush back before he managed to catch the attacker in the street and then immobilize him while waiting for the police to arrive around 11 p.m., according to La Dépêche du Midi.

An attacker suffering from chronic psychotic disorder

The psychiatric assessment carried out as part of the investigation revealed that the accused suffered from chronic psychotic disorders, a breakdown in treatment and cannabis use, leading de facto to an impairment of his judgment.

The court ultimately reclassified the charges as "home invasion," arguing that those related to sexual assault were not sufficiently characterized. The forty-year-old was sentenced to 12 months in prison, four of which were suspended, and a fine of €1,000 for the moral damage suffered by the victim.

At the same hearing, the defendant also appeared for harassing a teacher with whom he had fallen in love. Convinced of a "love affair" between them, he had long followed her to her home or workplace.
