Qualifications Coupe du monde : l’Afrique du Sud s’envole pour le Mondial
Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers has been decided. Before the final matchday, Benin, Nigeria, and South Africa still had hopes of securing a place in the qualifiers. But it was ultimately Bafana Bafana who had the final say.
South Africa beat Rwanda 3-0 and took advantage of Benin's heavy defeat to Nigeria 4-0 to take first place in the direct qualifying group for the World Cup.
Nigeria, for its part, shone thanks to a hat-trick from Victor Osimhen (3rd, 37th and 52nd minutes) and a goal from Frank Onyeka (90+1). Despite this big win (4-0), the Super Eagles finished in second place, just behind the South Africans.
Leader before this final day, Benin sees all its hopes of qualification disappear after this heavy defeat in Nigeria.
