Serigne Oumar Mbaye, presented as the journalist's marabout and placed in pretrial detention in connection with the Madiambal Diagne case, is expected to learn his fate on February 5th. This is the date set by the criminal chamber of the Supreme Court to rule on the appeal filed by the public prosecutor's office of the Financial Judicial Pool (PJF) against the indictment chamber's decision granting the accused provisional release and placing him under judicial supervision.
Les Échos, which gave the information, believes that Mbaye has a real chance of regaining his freedom, recalling that the two sons and the wife of Madiambal Diagne, also placed under arrest warrant in connection with this case, benefited from provisional release.
Like the journalist's family members involved, the marabout is being prosecuted, notably for criminal association.
