Treasury Inspector Tabaski Ngom was placed in custody last January, notably for embezzlement of public funds. For her colleague Cheikh Ndiaye, this case "should push the Treasury Administration to strengthen its prevention mechanisms."
"Every time you take a step forward in prevention and improvement, there are other challenges that arise and that still need to be addressed in order to put in place a risk mitigation system," the chief Treasury inspector explained in an interview published in L'Observateur this Thursday, March 20.
However, Cheikh Ndiaye assures that the Tabaski Ngom affair is unlikely to undermine the credibility and commitment of Treasury officials. "Perhaps it could affect the morale of the agents a little, given the current speculation. But I can assure you that the Treasury is made up of valuable agents who sacrifice themselves daily to carry out the assigned missions, but also to satisfy users," he pleads.
