Altercation lors d’un contrôle de motos : Le secrétaire général des livreurs VTC fixé sur son sort

The Secretary General of the National Association of VTC Drivers of Senegal, CS Diaw, appeared before the Dakar Criminal Court this Friday. Placed in pretrial detention on January 20, 2026, the 28-year-old student, residing in Zac Mbao, was being prosecuted for illegal collection of funds, rebellion, and violence against a police officer.

CS Diaw was arrested last Friday by officers from the Grand-Yoff police station during a motorcycle check. According to the prosecution, an altercation occurred between the defendant and a police officer after several motorcycles, including CS Diaw's, were stopped.

The defendant then filmed the police intervention. He also refused to hand over his motorcycle key, forcing an officer to seize it. The situation escalated into acts of rebellion, leading to his arrest. CS Diaw was then taken into custody before being brought before the prosecutor.

In court, the defendant explained that he was going to the Dieupeul police station for a march scheduled for 3 p.m. He stated that his motorcycle had been impounded. He denied filming a police officer, specifying that he only filmed impounded motorcycles.

In his closing arguments, the public prosecutor requested the application of criminal law. The defense, represented by lawyers Iba Mar Diop, Baba Diop, and Ibrahima Mbengue, pleaded for leniency from the court.

At the end of the proceedings, the court acquitted CS Diaw of the charge of illegal collection, but found him guilty of rebellion. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, suspended, and fined 30,000 FCFA.
