CHAMBRE CRIMINELLE DE THIÈS : 10 ans de réclusion criminelle requis contre le vieux S. Ndour pour avoir mortellement poignardé S. Diallo

On Monday, January 12, S. Ndour, aged 70, appeared before the criminal court of Thiès on murder charges. He is accused of fatally stabbing S. Diallo in 2021 at the "Chez Gora" bar.

The two men, both drunk, reportedly had an argument over a trivial matter. The situation escalated when the accused pulled out a knife, fatally stabbing his drinking companion, who succumbed to the 3 cm deep abdominal wound.

In court, the defendant denied the accusations. He claimed that he was present in the bar on the night of the incident and that he had an altercation with the victim. "S. Diallo found me sitting in the bar and grabbed me by the beard, then slapped me. I brandished my knife to defend myself, but I don't remember stabbing him. I was drunk," the defendant stated.

Witness O. Sène stated that the victim had a dispute with a certain Mr. Bop, whom he accused of stealing his cell phone. According to him, S. Ndour intervened in this altercation without being directly involved.

C. Mbaye, an employee at "Chez Gora," testified that when he heard shouts outside the bar, he went out to investigate. "I found S. Diallo lying on the ground, and S. Ndour standing in front of him, a knife in his hand. When I tried to subdue him, he tried to stab me in turn. I dodged the blow, then managed to restrain him before alerting the police," he stated.

These testimonies strengthen the charges against the accused.

In his closing argument, the public prosecutor stated that the only remaining question in this case was the motive for the crime, but that the facts were clear. He concluded that the defendant had senselessly killed S. Diallo. Based on witness testimonies and the circumstances of the tragedy, the prosecutor requested a 10-year prison sentence for S. Ndour.

The verdict is scheduled for February 9, 2026.
