CHAMBRE CRIMINELLE DE THIÈS : 20 ans de réclusion criminelle requis contre 4 prévenus pour braquage à main armée
S. Sow, G. Ka, M. Ba, and O. Ba are being tried this Wednesday, December 24, 2025, by the Criminal Chamber of the Thiès High Court for conspiracy, armed robbery at night, and violence resulting in a 25-day incapacity for work. They are accused of robbing a convenience store in Keur Moussa and stealing a weapon, cell phones, and several other items. The events took place in 2022. On the night of the robbery, the masked and heavily armed perpetrators held the security guards hostage, injuring some of them before looting the store.
The Thiès Criminal Investigation Brigade opened an investigation. Two weeks after the incident, suspect S. Sow was arrested in Thionakh (Thiès). Review of CCTV footage led to the arrest of three other suspects: G. Sow, M. Ba, and O. Ba. Analysis of their cell phones revealed that they had been communicating before the night of the robbery and that their phones were all switched off during the robbery to avoid being tracked. They were formally charged and remanded in custody.
In the dock of the criminal court, the defendants all denied the accusations. S. Sow expressed his incomprehension and stated that he had never been presented with any incriminating evidence. G. Ka also denied any involvement in the burglary and claimed that the person in the CCTV footage did not resemble him. M. Ba and O. Ba also denied their participation in the robbery.
But according to the public prosecutor, investigators presented sufficient evidence incriminating the defendants. He requested a 20-year prison sentence.
The defendants' lawyers attempted to dismantle all the arguments presented by the investigators and the prosecutor. According to them, the CCTV footage, showing the suspects all wearing balaclavas and their phones switched off during the robbery, was insufficient to confirm their guilt. Therefore, the lawyers argued for the outright acquittal of their clients.
The defendants will be sentenced by the court in the near future.
