DAKAR ACCUEILLE LA 2ᵉ ÉDITION DU CONCOURS RÉGIONAL DE PLAIDOIRIE DE LA COUR DE JUSTICE DE LA CEDEAO
The ECOWAS Court of Justice will organize in Dakar, from May 20 to 22, 2026, the second edition of its Regional Moot Court Competition, a major academic and legal event bringing together law students from several West African countries.
Placed under the theme "Today's students, tomorrow's lawyers", this 2nd edition aims to strengthen the understanding of community law, develop students' advocacy skills and promote exchanges between the academic world and the judicial institutions of the region.
Universities from Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal and Togo will participate in this regional competition, while representatives from law training institutions in Cape Verde will attend as observers.
The competition will take place in two phases: a written stage involving the drafting of legal briefs based on a fictional case within the Court's jurisdiction, followed by an oral phase consisting of elimination rounds, semi-finals and a final before high-level juries.
Each participating university will be represented by a team consisting of two students and a supervisor (coach). The top-ranked teams will advance to the final phase of the competition.
Following a first edition organised in 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria, this second edition marks a new step in the ECOWAS Court of Justice's commitment to promoting legal excellence, regional integration and the training of future legal professionals in West Africa.
Several institutional figures, representatives of the judiciary, academics, partners, media and guests of honor are expected at this major regional event.
The closing ceremony and awards presentation will conclude the competitions before a cultural visit scheduled for May 23, 2026.
