France : Madiambal Diagne passe à l’acte
He announced it, and he did it. Madiambal Diagne, through his lawyers, has filed his appeal against the ruling of the investigating chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal (France) ordering his partial extradition.
"The case will therefore be debated at the level of the French Court of Cassation," recalls Les Échos, which broke the news. "The notice of appeal is the first step in an appeal to the Court of Cassation. For the lawyers, this means waiting to receive the full judgment of the Versailles Court of Appeal in order to draft their application, in which they will raise grievances and present the grounds for appeal."
However, Madiambal Diagne is not immune from extradition, in accordance with the wishes of the Senegalese justice system, which has issued an arrest warrant against him as part of the investigation into the Ellipse Projects case. The appeal does not automatically suspend the extradition, and French President Emmanuel Macron can issue a decree leading to his return to Senegal.
If necessary, one of the lawyers for the founder of the Avenir communication group, Mr. Brengartj, announces that they will appeal to the French Council of State.
