"Longuement entendu" : L'avocat de Doudou Wade détaille son audition à la sûreté urbaine

Former Liberal MP Doudou Wade was released from the Dakar central police station's urban security headquarters after his hearing, Seneweb has learned. One of his lawyers, El Hadj Amadou Sall, provided further details about his interrogation.

“To inform the public, as of this moment, our client Doudou Wade has not yet received a summons. Neither from the police nor from anyone else,” he stated. “He learned of it through the press and spontaneously chose to appear this morning,” the lawyer explained. “He was questioned at length and provided all the necessary clarifications,” Mr. Sall indicated.

Before adding: "He answered precisely, he answered clearly, he answered all the questions that were put to him." According to Mr. Sall, "his answers were convincing."

"He explained the remarks he made, which were criticized for. These are remarks you are all familiar with, made during a broadcast," Mr. Sall stated. "He explained himself, and following these explanations, things have never been clearer."

"That is why, at the end of his hearing, he was told for the time being to return home and make himself available to the investigation," explained Mr. El Hadj Amadou Sall.

The lawyer reiterated: "It is understood that in a republic, in a democracy, all citizens are at the disposal of the justice system and the investigation. And from that point of view, he is at their disposal."

Mr. Sall insisted: "It is also understood that no prohibition has been given to him. No constraint on his freedom of movement. He can go wherever he wants, he can do whatever he wants."

"So, for the moment, we note that he was heard, that he answered the questions that were asked of him and that he is going home peacefully," concluded Doudou Wade's lawyer.
