The press release
Press release regarding the cases of Fulbert Sambou and Didier Badji
The Association for the Protection of Human Rights (APDH) warmly congratulates the Senegalese justice system, and more particularly the judge of the 3rd chamber of the High Court of Dakar, who opened the investigation in the case concerning the death of Fulbert Sambou and the disappearance of Didier Badji, two cases which occurred in particularly disturbing circumstances.
We strongly encourage him to continue his efforts to investigate this matter to its conclusion, in order to clarify the facts and shed full light on this situation which has plunged the entire country into deep turmoil.
On this occasion, we remind the Minister of Justice of the importance of setting up a Criminal Inquiry Commission (CIC) to shed light on the violent repression that took place during the political events between March 2021 and June 2024.
The Constitutional Council, in its Decision No. 1/C/2025 of April 23, 2025, declared that these acts constitute imprescriptible crimes with regard to Senegal's international commitments of constitutional value.
The APDH reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
