THIÈS : L'agent immobilier M. Sankaré envoyé en prison pour avoir vendu un terrain litigieux à 20 millions FCFA
Real estate agent Mr. Sankaré has been placed under arrest warrant and is currently on trial in the Thiès criminal court for selling a disputed plot of land of 250 m² in the Grand-Standing district to a private individual, Mr. Guèye, for 20 million FCFA.
To acquire a plot of land for residential use, Mr. Guèye approached real estate agent Mr. Sankaré, who offered him a plot in the aforementioned neighborhood. After discussion, both parties agreed on the amount of 20 million FCFA.
Mr. Guèye then paid the agreed sum but never received the land deeds. In response, he filed a complaint for fraud, leading to Mr. Sankaré's arrest. Mr. Sankaré attempted to exonerate himself by returning 10 million FCFA to the plaintiff. However, he was formally charged and remanded in custody.
In court, the defendant admitted the facts, claiming he did not know the land was disputed before the transaction.
Mr. Guèye's lawyer is claiming 15 million FCFA in damages.
The prosecutor requested the application of the law, and the verdict is scheduled for February 27, 2026.
