After years of marriage, AS and CD settled their scores before the Thiès District Court after the husband nearly lost his life. His wife scalded him with oil as revenge for the verbal abuse he allegedly subjected her to for years. The incident took place in Thiès.

That day, following a heated argument, AS went to sleep peacefully in the marital bedroom, leaving his wife in a rage. Taking advantage of the husband's sleep, CD scalded him with oil before fleeing. The husband's screams alerted the neighbors, who rushed the unfortunate AS to the hospital for treatment. The medical certificate issued by the doctor confirmed that 33% of the man's body suffered second-degree burns. This earned him an 18-day temporary incapacity for work.

Armed with this medical document, AS filed a complaint against his wife with the police for assault and battery. CD was arrested, charged and then placed in custody.

At the Thiès District Court, she admitted the facts, while specifying that she had scalded her husband with water and not with oil. CD also added that her husband continued to verbally abuse her.

The husband, for his part, maintained that it was indeed hot oil that burned him and that investigators found oil stains on the bed. The husband then demanded the sum of 5 million CFA francs in compensation.

The public prosecutor found the defendant guilty of CBV and requested a two-year prison sentence, one of which was to be served with a fine of 50,000 CFA francs.

The decision is set for November 3, 2025.
