Serigne Babacar Diouf : Parcours d’un homme engagé au service de la communauté
Originally from Sangué Diobass, in the commune of Notto Diobass (Thiès region), Serigne Babacar Diouf is an emblematic figure combining spiritual commitment, remarkable professional career and growing social influence.
He completed his primary and middle school education in his native region before continuing his secondary education in the city of Thiès, where he obtained his Baccalaureate. Driven by a constant desire to progress, he then enrolled at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, a leading center of learning in West Africa.
Driven by a profound sense of duty and discipline, he joined the Senegalese army, where he distinguished himself through an exceptional career marked by rigor, courage, and excellence. Building on this experience, he continued his commitment to serving the nation by joining the National Police Academy, thus solidifying his role in the security and protection of citizens.
Through his dedication, he initiated and modernized the grand annual Gamou of Sangue Diobass, which will be held this April 24th.
From a very young age, Serigne Babacar Diouf embraced a strong spiritual path by associating with the Tijaniyya Sufi order, under the influence of prominent religious figures such as Serigne Abdoul Aziz Sy Al Amine and Serigne Cheikh Al Makhtoum. A devoted disciple of Serigne Moustapha Sy Al Amine, he faithfully responded to the calls of his spiritual guide, actively participating in major religious gatherings.
He can be found in particular at the Boulel fields in Medina Sy, as well as at numerous religious events such as pilgrimages, notably that of Ashura. His openness and interpersonal skills have allowed him to forge strong links with the various brotherhoods of Senegal, particularly in Touba, Ndiassane and Medina Baye.
A man of action and compassion, Serigne Babacar Diouf is recognized for his numerous social initiatives and his commitment as a business leader in the Diobass community. His generosity, sociability, and spirit of sharing make him a respected and influential figure in his community.
Furthermore, he also left his mark on Senegalese football, progressing from the amateur leagues to the highest levels, contributing to the momentum that led to Senegal's historic victories in the Africa Cup of Nations.
His renown extends beyond national borders. In Gambia, he maintains ties with Adama Barrow's entourage, notably through the Honorable Khady Oulimata Touré, who regularly attends the Gamou organized by Serigne Babacar Diouf. He is also known in Mauritania and within the Senegalese diaspora.
Today, Serigne Babacar Diouf enjoys the attention and consideration of many religious, political, sporting and cultural authorities, both in Senegal and internationally.
The organization of the Gamou constitutes a true spiritual and cultural showcase for the commune of Diobass and for the entire Saffène community, strengthening the bonds of faith, solidarity and collective identity.
