Fièvre de la vallée du Rift (FVR) et de Mpox au Sénégal : Le point sur l'évolution des épidémies
The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene has published a statement to inform the population of the evolution of the Rift Valley Fever (RVF) and Mpox epidemics in Senegal.
Rift Valley Fever (RVF)
As of November 20, 2025, no new cases or deaths have been recorded. Since the start of the epidemic, Senegal has recorded 482 confirmed cases, including 31 deaths and 446 recoveries. The most affected regions are:
- Saint-Louis: 344 cases (Richard-Toll 155, Saint-Louis 80, Podor 59, Dagana 36, Pété 13, Thilogne 14, Ranérou 10, Matam 7)
- Fatick: 32 cases (Diofior 13, Fatick 6, Foundiougne 4, Passy 3, Niakhar 3, Diakhao 2, Sokone 1)
- Louga: 21 cases (Linguère 9, Keur Momar Sarr 5, Sakal 3, Coki 1)
- Matam: 34 cases (Kanel 3)
- Kaolack: 24 cases (Kaolack 16, Ndoffane 6, Nioro 1, Guinguinéo 1)
- Dakar: 13 cases
- Tambacounda: 5 cases (Kidira 4, Bakel 1)
- Kédougou: 2 cases (Kédougou 1, Salémata 1)
- Thiès: 2 cases
- Kaffrine: 2 cases (Birkelane 2)
- Kolda: 1 case (Vélingara 1)
Mpox
Since the first confirmed case on August 22, 2025, the following have been noted:
- 9 confirmed cases and 2 probable cases
- 10 cases localized in Dakar, 1 case in Ziguinchor
- 9 recoveries, 0 deaths
- 46 contacts followed up.
Call for vigilance
The Ministry of Health calls on the population to maintain heightened vigilance, to strictly adhere to preventive measures, and to actively collaborate with health workers and community relays.
