Fièvre de la vallée du Rift : Le Dr Mathioro Fall fait le point sur le bétail
The head of the Animal Health Protection Division, Dr. Mathioro Fall, provided an update on the impact of Rift Valley fever on animals. "According to the latest information, more than 160 cases have been recorded among animals, including 1,236 abortions in seven regions of the country: Saint-Louis, Louga, Matam, Tambacounda, Fatick, Thiès, and Dakar," he said on Sud FM.
According to the veterinarian, the spread of the disease is being facilitated by the current period, which coincides with the winter season (the last quarters of the year). "The rainy season and the circulation of the virus among animals are all factors that contribute to the spread of the disease."
Dr. Fall also emphasized that actions are being taken to break and reduce the chain of transmission, to stop the disease.
