Santé pour tous : L'hôpital militaire de campagne de Goudomp, un espoir concret pour les populations
In an effort to strengthen local healthcare services, a Level 2 military field hospital has just been set up in Goudomp. A true logistical and medical feat, this temporary but highly efficient structure aims to meet the urgent healthcare needs of the region.
The sheer size of this field hospital reflects the ambition of the operation. Designed to handle a large influx of patients, the facility is ready to meet a variety of medical challenges thanks to state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified staff. Its capacity is estimated at up to 2,500 patients per month. The operating theater can perform 15 surgeries and deliveries daily. The inpatient wards are designed to accommodate 60 beds for post-operative care and critical cases.
This initiative between the army and the Ministry of Health lies in its economic and social model. Although the infrastructure and medical personnel come from the army, financial and logistical support is provided by the Ministry of Health.
"All medical services, from the simplest consultations to complex surgical operations, are completely free," informs Colonel Cheikh Lam, director of this field military hospital.
