112 migrants secourus au large des Mamelles : Ce que l’on sait de l’enquête
The National Gendarmerie's Environmental Section rescued around a hundred would-be illegal immigrants in distress off the coast of Les Mamelles, not far from Dakar, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. According to initial investigations, the canoe had left the Gambian coast bound for Spain.
But faced with serious technical difficulties on the high seas, it drifted to the outskirts of Dakar. It was then that the captain, abandoning his passengers to their fate, fled, leaving the canoe to the waves.
A rescue operation mobilized
Alerted, the Dakar Gendarmerie Legion, under the command of Colonel Malick Faye, quickly deployed a rescue force. 112 people were rescued safely from the beach at Ouakam. Among them were 62 Gambians, 33 Senegalese, and 17 Malians, according to Seneweb sources. The survivors received medical care before being taken to the Ouakam territorial brigade for questioning.
The first testimonies collected reveal that each migrant would have paid between 500,000 and 700,000 CFA francs for this perilous crossing to Europe.
Investigators from the Ouakam brigade are continuing their investigations to identify and arrest the fugitive captain and any other person involved.

Et le pire, le fait que ces pauvres clandestins risquent de se faire voler sur cette plage!
Je remercie ces braves pêcheurs, qui par humanisme, ont sauvé ces voyageurs du désespoir!
C'est pathétique. Lou ko fi diar,
