Affaire Pape Mahawa Diouf-Aser : Alioune Tine dénonce une criminalisation du débat public
Arrested before the Dakar flagrante delicto court on Monday, October 13, the deputy spokesperson for the Alliance for the Republic (APR), Pape Mahawa Diouf, was given a one-month suspended sentence.
The judge, who thus closed the "Aser-gate" case, in which the opponent, prosecuted for spreading false news, ruled that he suspected a financial scandal. He also rejected the request for civil action filed by the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (Aser).
Reacting to this decision by the Dakar flagrante delicto court on this case, Alioune Tine denounced an outrageous "criminalization" of public debate.
"Pape Mahawa Diouf should never have been arrested and detained as an opposition politician speaking in a televised debate. This is simply criminalizing public debate," the founder of AfrikaJom Center raged on the social network X.
According to the former secretary general of Raddho, "it is up to public opinion to judge and for those in charge of management to provide proof of their good faith."
