Affaire SoftCare : ça se complique pour le fabricant des couches et serviettes hygiéniques suspectes
In a statement sent to L'Observateur, SoftCare, the manufacturer of the diapers and sanitary napkins suspected of being made with expired raw materials, declared that the Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP), which ordered the withdrawal of the products in question, had conducted an inspection of its premises. "The reassuring statement affirms that 'both entities are committed to maintaining high standards' to guarantee quality products," reports the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
The newspaper believes the unclear message "is likely to cause confusion on the ground, among both retailers and customers." To clear up any ambiguity, L'Observateur contacted Dr. Moussa Diallo, head of the Directorate of Inspection, Market Surveillance, and Vigilance at the ARP (Assembly of the Representatives of the People). He was unequivocal: "This statement is not binding on the Agency," he declared, adding, according to L'Observateur, that "the official and sole position of the ARP remains that expressed in its notice withdrawing the sanitary napkins and diapers in question."
