Albinisme : La députée Félicité Bougane Sarr réclame une subvention publique pour la crème solaire
In the National Assembly, MP Félicité Bougane Sarr expressed her deep concern about the situation of people with albinism in Senegal, whom she considers marginalized and forgotten by public health policies.
According to her, no specific and sufficient measures are currently being taken to support this community, which is extremely vulnerable to the effects of the sun, in a country where the sunshine is intense almost all year round.
"These people feel different, rejected, and face enormous difficulties in accessing the sunscreen they need. Yet, this cream is expensive and remains out of reach for the majority of them," she lamented.
An ignored health vulnerability
People with albinism are extremely sensitive to ultraviolet rays. Without adequate sun protection, they are particularly vulnerable to serious skin conditions, including skin cancer, chronic burns, and various debilitating dermatological lesions.
For the parliamentarian, this health reality demands an urgent response from the State. "This is not a luxury, but a vital public health need," she insists, referring to high-SPF sunscreen.
Félicité Bougane Sarr thus directly appealed to the Minister of Health to grant a specific subsidy to this protective cream, making it accessible to all those concerned, regardless of their income level.
She also argues for the inclusion of sunscreen in the list of essential products subsidized by the State, in the same way as certain medicines or medical devices.
Beyond health, it's a question of dignity. For the MP, the issue isn't limited to just health. It's also a matter of dignity, inclusion, and social equity. "We can't talk about social justice and continue to ignore a segment of our population simply because they are a minority and different," she insisted.

Nous lançons un appel urgent pour bien gérer nos Associations enfin de permettre une bonne scolarité et un bon travail à tous nos membres qui sont à Dakar et dans les régions.
