After the referee's final whistle confirmed Senegal's qualification against Egypt, celebrations erupted throughout the city of Thiès. A moment of pure jubilation swept across the railway town. The atmosphere of a major festival reached its peak on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
At the legendary Place de France, which has become the promenade of the people of Thiès, opposite the Town Hall, the main point of convergence, almost all of Thiès gathered to exchange intense wishes in a fraternal, friendly and convivial atmosphere.
The honking of cars and motorcycles in Jakarta mingled with the allure of firecrackers exploding everywhere. The festive fervor of the population was at its peak, taking hold of every nook and cranny of the city.

People dance, sing, and congratulate each other. They have fun and enjoy themselves. All of nature is celebrating, looking radiant. The people of Thiès have joined in the festivities. A vital element of social life.
