Arnaque au recrutement militaire : La SR de Kaolack démantèle un réseau de faux capitaines

Following a tip-off, the Kaolack gendarmerie's research section (SR) arrested two individuals who were posing as army captains. They were demanding money from military recruitment candidates, according to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb.

The facts

In October 2025, J. Diagne, a candidate for recruitment into the Senegalese army, underwent her medical examination in Kaolack and received her fitness certificate. Her friend, B. Cissé, then put her in contact with a certain Captain S. Sidibé, while warning her not to pay any money. Captain Sidibé offered to intervene in her selection process for 70,000 CFA francs. Following Cissé's advice, Diagne refused. Having ultimately not been selected, she reported this practice to the Kaolack research unit.

Cissé, a gendarmerie auxiliary, had himself been contacted in 2022 by a certain Captain A. Diagne via Facebook, who introduced him as Sidibé, a captain at Camp Dial Diop. Sidibé then demanded 50,000 CFA francs for his own recruitment. The two imposters were arrested as part of the investigation.

Searches at Sidibé's home in Rufisque yielded numerous military items, including captain's rank insignia, handcuffs, a stamp bearing his name, forged administrative documents, and replica weapons. A pair of captain's rank insignia was also found at Diagne's residence, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.

Confessions and verifications

Sidibé claimed to be a former police captain recruited in 1993, having resigned in 1997. However, checks with the police human resources department formally denied any incorporation of an officer named S. Sidibé between 1993 and 1994.

Diagne, for his part, denied having presented himself as an air force captain, citing a communication mix-up and claimed to be a captain-mechanic.

The SR established that Sidibé and Diagne formed a criminal association: Diagne identified the candidates he presented to Sidibé, who offered them his services for payment.

The two men were brought before the Kaolack prosecutor's office on October 27, 2025, on charges of criminal conspiracy, attempted fraud, forgery and use of forged documents, impersonating a public official, and possession of replica firearms. They were remanded in custody by the investigating judge.
