Cambriolages en série à Dakar : fin de cavale pour « Ben » et sa copine
The Grand-Yoff police station has put an end to the activities of S. Nianghane, alias "Ben," a burglar specializing in stealing safes. Investigators were able to track down the suspect thanks to the use of surveillance camera footage.
The modus operandi was well-rehearsed: on December 19, "Ben" broke into a shopkeeper's store in Liberté VI and stole a safe containing 1.4 million CFA francs. Surveillance cameras provided to the Grand-Yoff police station by the complainant, MT Fall, show him wearing a balaclava, a helmet, and gloves, and driving a white Ford SUV without license plates.
The investigation then linked it to a second, much larger burglary in the social housing complex, where a safe containing 24 million euros had disappeared. In total, the losses exceed 25 million euros, according to Libération.
The same source reports that the suspect was not alone. He was eventually apprehended at the "Ali Baba" restaurant in downtown Dakar, while in the company of his girlfriend, B. Ly, a 21-year-old hospitality student. A search of his home yielded the burglar's kit: a black sweater with a white stripe across the chest and two beanies, as well as a stun gun and a knife.
Investigators also uncovered a possible money laundering operation: "Ben" was having a two-story building constructed in Keur Massar, already furnished with brand-new, still-in-package furniture. On site, investigators seized an empty safe and several pieces of jewelry. The evidence gathered suggests that the money from the burglaries was being used to finance these real estate acquisitions as well as the lifestyle of his partner, a hospitality student. The couple is now in the hands of the justice system on charges of conspiracy, aggravated theft, and money laundering, the same source added.

Qu'il y est une interface publique qui permet de savoir qui purge une peine, ou, jusqu'à quand et pourquoi...pour s'assurer que les bourreaux purgent réellement leurs peines, j'ai l'impression que ces genres de faignants finissent toujours par activer un réseau qui les tire d'affaire.
