Casino du Terrou-Bi : le «Ndongo daara» perd 4 millions F CFA et ...
TI Dème, a 35-year-old man, was sentenced this Monday to a three-month suspended prison sentence for violence and destruction of property. According to Les Échos, which attended the hearing, the events took place on September 1 at the Terrou-Bi hotel casino.
Addicted to gambling for 11 years, TI Dème, presented as a "Ndongo daara", designating a person trained in a Koranic school, lost 4 million CFA francs and, in a fit of anger, destroyed a casino machine.
In front of the judge, he admitted the facts, explaining that he acted out of frustration, without being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Quoted by the same source, his lawyer argued that his client was addicted, specifying that the latter had even asked the casino, in vain, to ban him from the casino.
Although the civil party withdrew its case, the prosecutor requested that the law be applied. The court ultimately took the defendant's addiction into account when issuing a suspended sentence, reports Les Échos.
