Chantier du Lycée Limamoulaye : mort d’un ouvrier, l’entrepreneur interpellé
A serious accident occurred Wednesday evening at the Seydina Limamoulaye High School reconstruction site in Guédiawaye, killing 36-year-old worker Khalifa Ababacar Sy. He fell to his death from the third floor due to a lack of adequate safety equipment. Only two harnesses were available for six workers, and the victim was not wearing a helmet or protective gear, L'Observateur reports.
The newspaper reports that the police investigation led to the arrest of Fafa Cissé, head of the Kelimane company, which was awarded the contract for the project. He was reportedly slow to respond to summonses, reinforcing suspicions, while several of his colleagues, including the site manager and supervisors, had already been arrested, according to the daily newspaper owned by Groupe Futur Médias.
The same source reported that the victim, an orphan and recently married, leaves behind a young widow and a devastated family and community. The worker was rushed to Dakar's Main Hospital, but did not survive his injuries. His body, which underwent an autopsy, was returned to the family and buried Friday in Pikine.
A press conference is planned by his relatives to denounce the negligence that led to the tragedy.

C'est partout au Sénégal ces chantiers merdiques qui mettent les ouvriers sous-payés en danger de mort.
