Condamné à deux ans de prison : le barman «harcelait» sa cliente

Found guilty of illegally collecting data and disseminating images contrary to public morals, bartender J. Mané was sentenced to two years in prison, three months of which are to be served, and fined 100,000 CFA francs. He will also have to pay 250,000 CFA francs in damages to his former client, S. Gomez.

According to Le Soleil, which attended the hearing, the case, heard before the Dakar court of summary jurisdiction, rested on two radically opposed versions: the woman claimed that J. Mané had sexually harassed her for several months. After she rejected him, he allegedly took advantage of access to her phone to send herself intimate photos, which he then allegedly forwarded to her boyfriend, CA Bassène.

The bartender, on the contrary, maintains that it was S. Gomez who harassed him and that she had even caused his divorce. Fed up, he claims to have sent the photos to CA Bassène to prove that his partner "was not trustworthy."

Heard as a witness, CA Bassène confirmed that he had indeed received the intimate photos of his partner from the bartender.

The defense, for its part, demanded acquittal on the charge of illegal collection, arguing that S. Gomez herself had sent the images, and requested a lenient application of the law.
