Darou Mousty : un conseiller municipal envoyé en prison pour avoir partagé les images d’un mort dans un…
Mr. Ndao, a municipal councilor in Darou Mousty, has been held in Louga prison since last Wednesday. Charged with violating human dignity, he was brought before the prosecutor and then remanded in custody the same day.
Mr. Ndao is accused of having posted on Whatsapp and shared in a group bringing together traders from the central market of Darou Mousty and named "Panel of the monitoring committee", the images of the body of Mr. Sow.
The 18-year-old shepherd died from injuries sustained during an altercation with his colleague A. Sow last Monday at a wedding celebration. Under the influence of alcohol, the two men came to blows, exchanging machete attacks.
Images of the victim lying in a pool of blood were sent to the city councilor, who then shared them. Following a complaint filed by the family with the Darou Mousty gendarmerie brigade, Mr. Ndao was arrested.
According to the account in L'Observateur, which reports on this case, the accused admitted the facts, but justified himself by stating that through his action, he sought to "raise awareness among the people of the region".
