In preparation for the start of the school year in October 2025, the Ziguinchor school inspector provided an update on the major projects of the Ministry of National Education. "We have identified practical measures for a successful return to school in all establishments in the region," said Papa Gorgui Ndiaye.

He also highlighted a shortage of at least 250 teachers: "We have seen a lot of new arrivals (of teachers) in the Ziguinchor academy and we are also expecting new ones to leave. (But) we are hopeful that the situation will not be very alarming and that we will be able to continue to manage as we did last year. There are strategies that allow all classes to function. And I took the opportunity to praise the availability and open-mindedness of the teachers' unions."

Regarding temporary shelters, "the situation is not very alarming, because we are currently at a cumulative percentage of shelters of 11%. It is at the early childhood level where it is more accentuated, with 15% at the middle level. But there too, we have reassurance because the Minister of National Education has just launched an emergency program to resolve temporary shelters. And we are hopeful with the arrival of this project, along with partners, projects at the national level like the PUDC. So, I believe that the percentage of temporary abuses can be reduced during the school year," explained the school inspector.

Furthermore, the concept of "Oubi Teye, Diang Teye," weeding and cleaning schools before the start of the school year, were reviewed. The school inspector assured that the instructions will be followed to the letter and urged parents to make arrangements for the effective start of classes on October 8, 2025.
