Diamaguène : 20 téléphones volés dans une boutique, le voleur arrêté par la police
The Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station arrested an individual suspected of committing a nighttime robbery at a mobile phone shop, involving approximately twenty devices valued at an estimated 1,500,000 CFA francs. The incident dates back to March 4, 2026.
MD, a shopkeeper residing in Sam-Sam 3, went to the police station to file a complaint. According to his statement, he arrived at his mobile phone shop around 8:00 a.m. and was surprised to find the shop gate open. Upon entering, he noticed that about twenty mobile phones displayed in the window were missing, and no signs of forced entry were found, suggesting that keys had been used to open the gate's locks.
Having been informed of the incident, police officers went to the scene to conduct an initial investigation. The investigation led to the seizure of two keys believed to have been used to unlock the store's locks.
The investigation led to a suspect nicknamed "Poulo". As part of the investigation, MT, a witness, came forward at the police station and claimed to have transported the suspect to Fass Mbao to duplicate keys.
Armed with this information, the police were able to arrest the suspect, BM, 21, a motorcycle taxi driver residing in Medina Fass. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of an iPhone XR, which the complainant formally identified as one of the stolen phones.
The investigators then transported the witness to a key-cutting workshop belonging to BT. When questioned by the police, the witness identified the suspect and stated that he had made two padlock keys for him for the sum of 3,500 CFA francs.
Following his hearing, BM was taken into custody for questioning. The investigation continues in order to locate the other stolen phones and any possible accomplices.
The public prosecutor at the Pikine-Guédiawaye court, Saliou Dicko, has been informed of the facts.
