Distinctions : La Ville de Thiès a rendu hommage à dix figures marquantes, dont Idrissa Seck
The City of Thiès held a ceremony this Saturday to award distinctions in honor of several personalities who have marked the life of the community through their commitment and contributions in various fields.
The initiative, led by Mayor Dr Babacar Diop, took place within the city hall, in the presence of families, relatives and guests who came to celebrate these emblematic figures of the railway capital.
The municipality praised men and women whose actions have contributed to the development and influence of Thiès, whether in religious, political, academic, economic or sporting spheres.
For this edition, ten individuals were recognized for their service to the community. They are: Souleymane Kanté, president of the Association of Neighborhood Delegates of Thiès; Bishop André Guèye, former Bishop of Thiès; Ramatoulaye Diagne Mbengue, former rector of the Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès; Idrissa Seck, former Prime Minister and former mayor of Thiès; the late Serigne Saliou Touré, representative of the General Khalif of the Mourides; the late Abdoulaye Diao, known as Baba Diao Itoc, industrialist; Serigne Mounirou Ndiéguène Al Khalifa, religious leader and Khalif of Keur Mame El Hadji; Mayoro Fall, retired principal inspector of the Treasury; Djiby Diagne, known as "Mon Parent," businessman; and the late Boubacar Diop, known as Bouba Diakhao, former Senegalese international footballer.
Through this ceremony, the City of Thiès reaffirms its commitment to preserving collective memory and promoting exemplary journeys that inspire present and future generations.
