Drame à Fandène : Un champ d'arachides et de niébé d'un hectare réduit en centres
It was a one-hectare field of peanuts and cowpeas that was completely consumed by fire in Fandène, a rural commune in the department of Thiès, now headed by the former minister and chief of staff to President Macky Sall, Dr. Augustin Tine.
An agricultural area belonging to Ms. Bintou Dièye, a local entrepreneur who is experiencing a real nightmare during this peanut farming season, all her efforts having gone up in smoke, due to a suspected arson attack.
For several weeks, Bintou Dièye has been struggling to overcome difficulties related to protecting her crops. She says she is currently in conflict with herders whose flocks are damaging her harvests. And despite filing a complaint with the Fandène gendarmerie for crop damage, the situation has worsened.
This morning, when she woke up, Bintou Dièye was devastated. She discovered a field completely burned to the ground, her peanut and cowpea crops utterly destroyed. A considerable loss for the poor woman who had hoped to profit from her harvest to support her family and invest in her farming activities.
The young woman, deeply upset, hopes to see the authorities take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future and protect the hard work of small producers.
