«Faux test VIH», BMW, téléphone... : «Mara milliardaire», les preuves s'empilent
The net is closing in on A. Faye, alias "Mara the Billionaire." Despite a strategy of systematic denial, the accused now finds himself at the heart of a body of damning evidence, according to Libération. The newspaper reveals that the investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has uncovered the suspect's methods for attempting to evade justice.
According to the same source, the suspect initially attempted to mislead investigators by producing a "fake HIV test," lacking a stamp and signature, which he claimed had been carried out in Gambia to prove his HIV-negative status. However, medical examinations ordered by the DIC "said otherwise," confirming his HIV-positive status and supporting the charge of "intentional HIV transmission."
Furthermore, several pieces of physical evidence weaken his defense. The suspect's vehicle, a luxury BMW, precisely matches the description given by the minor, S. Ndao. Telephone records also establish that he used his personal number to contact the victim through the recruiter, A. Sène, contradicting his statements that he did not know the latter.
The accused's behavior during his arrest aggravated his case. On April 3, during a first police raid on his home, he fled in a "spectacular attempt" during which he "drove straight towards a police officer," who owed his life only to a life-saving reflex.
Finally apprehended in Gambia after a brief period on the run, A. Faye has since adopted an uncooperative attitude: he "systematically opposes the technical analysis of his phone." This silence, however, does not prevent the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division) from continuing its investigations to identify the other accomplices within this vast network.
Brought before the Pikine/Guédiawaye court on Monday for criminal association, pedophilia, unnatural acts, abduction and repeated rapes of minors, voluntary transmission of HIV, endangering the life of a police officer in the exercise of his duties, refusal to comply and rebellion, the accused had benefited from a return to the prosecutor's office.
