Grand-Yoff : Un vendeur de café arrêté avec 250 g de chanvre indien
Elements of the research brigade (BR) of the Grand-Yoff police station proceeded to the arrest of A. Diop, a 34-year-old coffee seller, suspected of using his business as a cover to sell Indian hemp.
The facts date back to a foot patrol operation carried out by the police in the so-called "Network" sub-district of Grand-Yoff, an area known to be sensitive in terms of drug trafficking.
During this surveillance mission, investigators spotted the suspect riding a motorcycle, holding a bag. His behavior aroused suspicion, and A. Diop was subjected to an identity check followed by a security pat-down, according to Seneweb sources. The search proved successful. Inside the bag, the police discovered two loose packages of Indian hemp, each weighing 125g, for a total of 250g. A sum of 13,000 CFA francs was also seized, consisting of a 5,000 F note, a 2,000 F note, five 1,000 F notes, and two 500 F notes.
Placed in police custody, A. Diop admitted the facts during his hearing. He told investigators that he had acquired the drugs the same day as his arrest from a street vendor he encountered in the "Réseau" sub-district.
Following the investigation, the alleged trafficker was brought before the public prosecutor of the Dakar High Court on Thursday for the supply and sale of Indian hemp.
