Grève à la Direction de la protection des végétaux : Le SYNTTAS dénonce le non-paiement du salaire minimum
The National Union of Agricultural Technicians and Workers of Senegal (SYNTTAS) has declared a 48-hour renewable general strike at the Directorate of Plant Protection (DPV). The action, announced by the union's general secretary, Mor Diouf, follows the DPV's alleged refusal to implement the minimum wage set for agricultural workers.
“Since April 25, 2025, the former Minister of Labor, Abass Fall, had signed a decree setting the minimum wage for agricultural workers. All the departments concerned were supposed to readjust. Today, the agents of the DPV, among the lowest paid, are exposed to extremely serious risks,” denounced Mor Diouf.
SYNTTAS demands an immediate salary increase in accordance with current regulations. If the authorities do not respond positively, the strike could spread to all departments within the Ministry of Agriculture.
“We have declared a 48-hour strike on November 3rd and 4th. If the authorities do not take responsibility, we will extend it to the entire ministry. There are many problems in this department and we are directly appealing to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture,” warned the Secretary General of SYNTTAS.
