Guy Marius Sagna aux côtés des éleveurs : “Avec le vol de bétail, pas de souveraineté alimentaire”
This Saturday, October 25, MP and activist Guy Marius Sagna was in Passy, in the Foundiougne department, where he met with members of the National Federation for the Development of Livestock and Animal Protection (FNDEPA). They expressed their dismay at the upsurge in cattle theft, a scourge that persists despite its criminalization by Senegalese law.
According to the testimonies collected, some herders manage to capture thieves and bring them to justice, but they are quickly released. This, according to the FNDEPA, discourages rural populations and undermines efforts to secure livestock.
Guy Marius Sagna praised the patriotism and determination of the ranchers. “With cattle rustling, there is no food sovereignty. With cattle rustling, there is the impoverishment of the peasant masses,” he declared.
The MP promises to work alongside the FNDEPA, with the aim of eradicating this scourge which compromises the economic and food security of the Senegalese countryside.
