Incident à Keur Massar : La police et la gendarmerie apaisent la tension et rassurent sur leur collaboration
In a joint statement sent to Seneweb by Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, head of the Communication and Public Relations Division of the National Gendarmerie, the security authorities acknowledge an incident that occurred between their agents and promise to preserve cohesion between the units.
On November 14, 2025, an incident involving officers of the national police and the national gendarmerie occurred in Keur Massar. Images of this scene quickly circulated on social media, sparking numerous reactions within Senegalese public opinion.
Faced with the scale of the controversy, the two security institutions broke their silence, publishing a joint statement to clarify the situation.
In their joint statement, the General Directorate of the National Police and the High Command of the National Gendarmerie deeply regret this incident. Both forces acknowledge that this is an isolated act that in no way reflects the quality of the professional relationship and the exemplary collaboration that binds them on a daily basis.
The authorities wish to emphasize that police officers and gendarmes work together in carrying out their sovereign missions, ensuring the safety of citizens throughout the national territory.
Measures to clarify responsibilities
The General Directorate of the Police and the High Command of the Gendarmerie assure that joint measures have been taken to clarify the exact circumstances of the Keur Massar incident and to determine each party's responsibilities. Notre gendarmerie nationale est inspirée de la France. Pourtant quand vous allez en France, il est impossible de rencontrer un gendarme sauf si vous allez dans les villages les plus reculés. Parce que la police c’est pour la ville et la gendarmerie, c’est pour la campagne. C’est des militaires. Mais ce pays, c’est le bordel ! On met gendarmes et militaires dans les villes et aux mêmes endroits. Ce pays est fou ! Continuons de nous teahir les uns les autres, il risque de n’y avoir jamais de progrès et on restera 24ème pays le plus pauvre. Parce que xam-xam amoufi ! Il y a trop de malhonnêteté et de tâtonnement. Niak DIOMAYE dégage ! On a pas voté pour toi et tu le sais ! Nous vouo SONKO ! Et je serais son conseiller pour éviter qu’il se trotromsur certains sujets !
